Biography

Dr. Haiying Long is the Director of the Center for Research Methods Consultation in the Achievement and Assessment Institute at the University of Kansas. She holds a dual major Ph.D. degree in Inquiry Methodology and Educational Psychology at Indiana University (Bloomington). Her research methodological interests focus on quantitative research methodology, experimental designs, covariance structure analysis, Structural Equation Modeling, large-scale data analysis, measurement validation, rater effects, program evaluation, mixed methods, and Diversity, Equity, and Inclusiveness issues in research, measurement, and evaluation. Dr. Long has collaborated extensively with colleagues and students in a variety of fields in and outside of the U. S., such as formal and informal science, engineering, and STEM education, teacher education, special education, psychology, mental health, sociology, community schools, educational policy, exercise psychology, recreational therapy, and social work. She has also worked closely with local school districts and national nonprofit community organizations as a research and evaluation consultant. She participated in many federal and local grant applications and received several awards from federal funding agencies, including the U.S. Department of Education, the U.S. Department of Justice, and the National Science Foundation. Dr. Long has published numerous articles in peer-reviewed journals, such as Educational Psychology ReviewReview of Research in EducationPsychology of Aesthetics, Creativity, and the ArtsSocial Psychology of EducationChild Abuse & Neglect, and Journal of Experimental Education. During her teaching career, Dr. Long has taught statistics, measurement, and evaluation courses at different levels and served as chair, co-chair, or committee member on the dissertation committees of many master and doctoral students in different fields. She was also invited to provide workshops and lectures on research methods at several institutions and community organizations in and outside of the U. S. Dr. Long is an associate editor of Thinking Skills and Creativity, editor in Frontiers in PsychologySustainability, and Frontiers in Education, and an editorial board member of thePsychoeducational Assessment. She was also an editorial board member of Psychology of Aesthetics, Creativity, and the Arts and an action editor of Creativity Research Journal.
